Union Station is a grand historic transportation hub, shopping center, and unique private event venue located in the heart of bustling Washington DC—just blocks from Capitol Hill and other top District attractions. Since its heralded opening in 1908, the grand Beaux Arts style Union Station building has played a pivotal role in our nation’s history, providing a welcoming arrival site for visiting dignitaries as well as the tearful departure and joyous return of our armed forces during the major international conflicts of this century. Designed by Daniel Burnham as part of the city’s beautification plan, Union Station offered the nation’s capital a fitting primary railway stop marked by timeless architectural beauty. The Redevelopment Act of 1981 preserved this historic treasure and restored its use as a passenger railway station and spectacular mixed-use complex. Completed in 1988 with multiple grand and versatile special event spaces, Union Station has earned its place as one of the best and most unique private DC-based venues for weddings, receptions, meetings, entertaining, galas, and more.
