ABOUT SAMANTHA ANDISON

I am a recent BC Call and have begun my legal career practicing primarily in environmental and municipal law. I am passionate about social and environmental issues, and I strive to use my strong communication skills to advocate for change in the environmental sector. As a Legal Research Fellow at CISDL, I spent the eleven months leading up to my articling term as a researcher and editing team lead on an upcoming publication on the International Law Association Guidelines on Sustainable Management of Natural Resources. Culminating in 2021, my Master of Professional Communication degree provided me with the opportunity to develop my critical analytical abilities and technical research skills. As part of my degree I undertook a Major Research Project and Paper, where I examined the ideological shift as represented in political narratives and issue emphasis during the 2020 Green Party Leadership transition, and specifically, how this discourse was presented on Twitter. I looked at the ways in which each Party leader framed their priorities, the impacts this framing had on user engagement with the tweets, and how these implications may affect party support more broadly. Currently based in Vancouver, I am always interested in getting involved in advocacy efforts in the sustainability space - please feel free to connect or reach out with any opportunities.
