ABOUT SAMANTHA AIKO MCGURK

I am an aspiring opera singer who started singing under the guidance of June Roselle. I started studying piano first at the age of 12. I then studied under Marya Basaraba for a long time. I sang as a featured soloist in the Torrance symphony orchestra day in the park, the Redlands bowl production of the magic flute as the first spirit. I studied under the guidance of Sara Goldstein at Boston Conservatory from 2005-to 2007. I then returned to school in 2010 and first studied under Judith Scott and then recently transferred to Deanna Murray at California State University of Northridge. I left CSUN because I needed a change of scenery. I began studying with Clark Harris in 2011 and am still studying with him.I have played Stephano in Romeo and Juliette and Mercedes in Carmen with repertory opera company. I am currently cast as Cherubino in the marriage Of Figaro and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Azucena, and Donna Elvira with the Los Angeles metropolitan opera company. I left the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Company as assistant director on November 9, 3014 and soloist on November 12, 2014. I am currently a tech assistant for the Law Offices of Christopher Kim. I joined the Rotary Club of Los Angeles, LA 5, in 2018. I became a sergeant of arms in 2021 under the presidency of Paul Ekstrand. As a voting member, I was voted into the board on December 10, 2021. I was made an administrative board member after that. I am on the scholarship, Angel City, Pageant of the Arts, and Speaker\'s Committee.
