ABOUT SAMUEL LI

I’m an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science student at the University of Ottawa passionate about building integrated electrical systems that push boundaries. My academic path is complemented by hands-on experience in design teams, consulting, and applied research. As an Electrical Engineer on Formula uOttawa, I taught myself how to use oscilloscopes and diagnostics to troubleshoot CAN bus systems. I am currently leading and designing the following projects- Electronic throttle system- E-clutch system- GGR2026 Sensor Suite (Brake Temp, EGT, TTPMS, Knock etc)- Live Sensor Data Transmission System- uOttawa FSAE PCB and Internal Sensor Development Program- Signal and voltage monitoring systemAll of which will define the next generation of our race car. Beyond FSAE, I previously worked with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories on a design project where our team developed a sampling system for CANDU reactors, gaining experience in applying classroom knowledge to high-stakes energy applications.During my internship with BBA Consultants, I developed the National T&D Map, a geospatial platform mapping Canada’s high-voltage transmission and generation infrastructure. I also contributed to proposals, technical reports, and single-line diagrams for major energy clients.Outside of technical work, I serve as Vice-Chair of uOttawa and as Electrical Engineering Co-op Representative on the ESS Board of Directors, where I continue to develop leadership, political, and sponsorship skills.I am eager to apply my dual EE and CS background to opportunities in defense, aerospace, motorsports, or power systems where I can combine engineering with leadership to deliver meaningful impact.
