ABOUT SAM T. IVANDE
I am a Conservation Biologist and I am passionate about using birds as focal species to advance biodiversity conservation. With an academic and research foundation, I have extensive experience collaborating with professionals, citizen scientists, and local communities to implement conservation projects. Most of my work has focused on capacity-building, inclusive engagement, and sustainable natural resource management. As a Conservation Coordinator at the Indianapolis Zoo, I contribute to advancing the Zoo\'s conservation mission helping to support our field conservation grant partners, and through the Zoo\'s partnership with the Species Survival Commission of the IUCN, also provide coordination support to volunteer networks of species experts (IUCN SSC National Species Specialist Groups) working to advance national level species recovery and conservation efforts in several countries. I really appreciate the opportunities that my work has provided me to travel, connect with diverse cultures, and promote global conservation efforts.
