Reporting to the Finance Director my role is to develop and implement procurement processes and policies as well as to increase and improve Procurement’s profile within RDG whilst being hands on. Historically Procurement at RDG was immature with a lot of the procurement work being outsourced as the IT Procurement expertise was not in house. I have introduced Category Management, Risk Management, SRM, Contract Management, and the implementation of Wax Digital for all sourcing events. In addition to developing and implementing policies I have also managed a number of high-profile IT procurements, such as the modernisation of the National Rail Enquiries websites and apps, a new passenger assistance booking system, a new reservations system and associated services, a HOPS system for third party retailers in order to facilitate smart card ticketing, as well as various consultancy and marketing projects. I am currently developing the procurement for the Consolidated Online Retail Solution (CORS) which is the first centralised retail solution for GBR, as well as the Rail Data Marketplace modernisation. I meet regularly with the IT exec team in order to keep them appraised of procurement projects and to understand their upcoming requirements and on a day to day basis work with the relevant SDMs and programme managers in relation to any ongoing projects. I also have two direct reports, one of which I am mentoring and training to progress her career in procurement. In addition, I am also a member of the ETDA (Enterprise Technical Design Authority) reviewing & approving any new potential procurements.
