About Sam Stalion
My research examines how destructive leadership—particularly through covert behaviors like gaslighting—shapes employee experiences and organizational outcomes. I’m especially interested in how these dynamics interact with individual differences, such as personality traits and identity factors, to influence how targets perceive, respond to, and recover from such behavior. Given persistent power imbalances in organizations, I also explore how gender plays a critical role in both the enactment and impact of destructive leadership, shedding light on why certain individuals or groups may be more vulnerable to manipulation and less likely to be believed or protected. Together, this work contributes to a deeper understanding of hidden organizational harm and how we might mitigate its effects through more inclusive leadership development and accountability structures.
