ABOUT SAM MCAULIFFE

Accountable executive/function head for technical application of IFRS, US GAAP and prudential requirements of the PRA, Federal Reserve and EU SSM for Barclays worldwide. Technical lead at Barclays for Basel 4 regulation and advocacy. The function I lead provides three core policy services:1. Governance: setting the \'house view\' on the application and meaning of technical requirements.2. Advisory: applying requirements to transactions and initiatives across all our businesses, balancing the commercial needs and demands of our auditors and regulators.3. Change: representing Barclays externally, working with the industry and standard-setters to shape future requirements.I began my career in policy development at the FSA, working on the development of Basel 2 (securitisation, credit risk mitigation) and its implementation in the EU. Later, I led a critical phase of insurance sector policy development for Solvency 2, working with EU agencies and member states. I joined Barclays shortly before the GFC and, starting in a technical capacity, have played a role in the highs, lows and transformations that have followed ever since.
