About Sam Cox

Over ten years as the Director of the Naval History and Heritage Command, responsible for all aspects of the U.S. Navy\'s history program, including ten museums, the Operational Archives, Navy Department Library, Art, Photo, Historic Weapons collection and Conservation Management Facility, USS CONSTITUTION Repair Detachment, Historic Submarine NAUTILUS, Underwater Archaeology Lab, 1,100 display aircraft, and all U.S. Navy sunken ships and aircraft (Federal Executive Agent for Sunken Military Craft Act.) In 2018, named an \"Honorary Survivor\" by the survivors of the WW2 heavy cruiser USS INDIANAPOLIS (CA-35,) whose motto is \"Never Quit.\" Also Director of Naval History (second-longest serving,) Curator of the Navy and Archivist of the Navy. Over 30 years of experience in national, inter-agency, military, naval and international coalition intelligence, including senior leadership of large intelligence organizations in numerous combat, crisis, humanitarian and cyber operations. Extensive specific experience in time-sensitive combat intelligence support, crisis actions, full spectrum cyber operations, inter-agency operations, management of large-scale intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations on support of counter-terrorism special operations and conventional military combat, creating new intelligence organizations to meet future requirements, as well as extensive planning and operational expertise in the MIddle East and East Asia.
