ABOUT SALVATORE SAPIENZA

Salvatore Sapienza is a Fixed-Term Researcher Type A (Junior) in the Department of Legal Sciences at the University of Bologna. He is an active collaborator on the ERC “HyperModeLex” project. He earned his Ph.D. in Law, Science and Technology, awarded jointly by the University of Bologna and the University of Luxembourg. After completing his single-cycle Master’s degree in Law, he obtained an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Law from King’s College London. He has collaborated with Stanford University’s Legal Design Lab and with private institutions. In 2023 he was a Visiting Researcher at the Leuven Center for IT & IP Law (CiTiP) at the Katholieke Universiteit (KU) Leuven. He is the author of numerous academic publications in the fields of Artificial Intelligence Ethics, Data Governance, Data Ownership and other areas of Legal Informatics. His research interests include the relationship between law, ethics and new technologies; ethical and legal issues of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence; legal-informatics perspectives applied to the agri-food sector; privacy and personal data protection; legal document management; Legal XML; and legal ontologies.
