ABOUT SALVATOR-JOHN A. LIOTTA
Salvator-John A. Liotta is a professor at the ULB-Universitè Libre de Bruxelles, Faculty of Architecture La Cambre-Horta, responsible of the Research seminar Unit at Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, founder of Liotta Architecture and a correspondent of Domus magazine. Liotta Architecture —an emerging yet acknowledged firm is based in Paris and has developed and built projects for housing, cultural and educational facilities in France, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Morocco. Liotta is currently affiliated at CNRS-LAVUE UMR 7218 in Paris and as a visiting researcher at Kengo Kuma Lab-Univ. of Tokyo.After graduating from Palermo Univ. and completing a master’s degree at the National Institute of Architecture in Rome, in 2005 he moved to Japan where he earned a PhD with a study on the architectural identity of Tokyo. In 20••••13, he worked as a researcher at the Grad. Sc. of Eng. of the Univ. of Tokyo with Kengo Kuma. In 2012, Very Very Architecture, a multidisciplinary collective he directed, was runner-up of the YAP-Young Architecture Program, organised by MoMA and MAXXI in Rome.From 2014 until 2023 he was a partner of the architecture firm Laps Architecture, co-directing it from 2017 until 2023. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, he was awarded 3 honourable mentions at the Young Architect Talent Award organised by the National Board of Italian Architects. In 2016, his works got selected and showcased at the Architecture Biennale of Venice and in 2016, 2018 at the Triennale of Milan. His architectural works have been published on international magazines —such as Domus, Abitare, A10, Modulo, Le Moniteur, AMC, The Plan among others— and has been exhibited at different venus such as MoMA, Venice Architecture Biennale, MAXXI Rome.Liotta is a Monbugakakusho fellow, JSPS fellow and Marie Curie Fellow and he is a member of the Research Committee of the Maison de l\'architecture Ile-de-France, a member of the scientific board of SOU-School of Architecture for Children, and a member of Japarchi—the Francophone Research Network of Studies on Japan. Liotta has published several books including \"Patterns and Layering: Japanese Spatial Culture, Nature and Architecture\"(Gestalten),\"What is Co-dividuality? Post-individual Architecture, Shared House and other stories of openness in Japan\"(Jovis Verlag),\"Tokyo Architectures : un guide d\'architecture moderne et contemporaine\"(Lézard Noir).
