ABOUT SALMA ABDO
Filmmaker | Media Producer | PR Specialist With roots in Damascus and a base in Cologne, I work at the intersection of media, politics, and cultural transformation. Since 2006, I’ve been engaged in storytelling across film, publications, audio, and digital formats. In 2015, after relocating to Germany, my work began to focus more intentionally on shaping narratives that center marginalized voices and challenge dominant systems. Since then, I’ve contributed to projects that promote LGBTQI+ visibility, anti-racist discourse, pro-democracy media, and trauma-informed storytelling. From Syria to the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, and now Germany, I’ve developed a practice grounded in post-production, sound design, cross-platform concept development, and community-rooted strategy. My lens is shaped by both lived experience and critical inquiry—navigating faith, masculinity, migration, and the politics of identity. Currently active with the Cologne-based collective In-Haus e.V, I continue to explore how media can be a tool for healing, resistance, and reimagination.
