Wilson Sonsini (WS) is the premier legal advisor to technology, life sciences, and other growth enterprises worldwide, as well as the venture firms, private equity firms, and investment banks that finance them. As Manager of Learning and Development, my role at WS includes oversight of new employee onboarding, Patents and Innovations (P&I) curriculum management, coordinating Attorney milestone events, and heavy cross-functional coordination-Weekly Employee Onboarding: Oversee the onboarding program for all new employees, Attorney and Staff, across 18 offices (AMER, EMEA, APAC). The primary point of contact for everything new employee onboarding. The main link between cross-functional departments (Information Technology, Human Resources, Attorney Recruiting, Office Managers, Purchasing). Plan two large onboarding events (Summer and Fall associates) each year for ~115 new hires -Custom Onboarding Programs: Preside over all lateral Member onboarding planning and scheduling. Coordinate with the Senior leadership team to plan out onboarding plan and integration -P&I Curriculum: Oversee firm-wide 100-600 level learning & development plan for P&I attorneys including live and virtual based classes and training videos. Act as a liaison between Learning and Development and P&I SMEs to develop trainings and coordinate all details of implementation. Analyze training needs via Learning Management System (LMS) surveys and meet with P&I training lead to review feedback and ROI post-training -Supervise and mentorship: Oversight of Learning and Development Specialist and Assistants -LMS system management: Troubleshoot issues when necessary along with learning new features (survey capabilities, auto generated emails, class/event management)-Attorney milestone academies: Agenda planning, communications, scheduling and onsite support (~7 per year, 75-110 people per event).
