About Sally Jankovic
After a fun and unexpected zigzag from a Philosophy BA to academic Math, I became a data scientist in 2023 at Lore Healthcare after receiving my PhD from the university of Minnesota. Over time, my ability to deploy the solutions I\'ve created has seen me shift away from the pure scientist realm and over towards engineering. As a former data scientist in the same org, I have a unique perspective on the challenges my ML colleagues face and have brought and implemented new ideas to speed up their workflow from the moment I started. My strong communication and writing skills have helped me implement my ideas, have productive conversations, and build strong connections with many talented folks who I learn from every day.I also like to laugh and have fun. I currently run monthly game/community building meetings over Teams for my entire AI/ML group. There are rave reviews.

I work with data scientists to best deliver their algorithms and monitor performance in a scalableway, I collaborate with data engineers to connect their pipelines with mine and to ensure data quality, and with clients\' platform teams to build solutions that best fit with their architectures and best practice. I also work with stakeholders to ensure that my engineering solutions support and meet crucial business requirments. I have project experience in both cutting-edge Generative AI and tried-and-true classical ML solutions.Highlights include serving a recommendation engine and building its retraining pipeline for a food service company leveraging AWS Sagemaker and RESTful APIs, resulting in over $0.50 increase in average order value and p95 latency under 200ms for throughput of up to 40 TPS.
