ABOUT SALLY FRYER CMGR
A career up to senior management level with West Yorkshire police has developed expert level knowledge of regional issues, the organisations which support our communities and the people who live here. Having worked my way through the ranks up to Superintendent, I would like to think my work and the teams I’ve managed have made a positive difference by creating safer communities and protecting our most vulnerable people. Integral to my work has been building relationships with partners and organisations including Local Authority, Health and Social Care Services, third sector organisations, MPs, and councillors. These vital relationships have made it possible to deliver a joined-up policing response, proactively reach and help people; and where possible – change their story. This approach to improving the lives of others has extended to my teams and I’ve had the privilege of leading teams of up to 400, taking care of their performance, development and wellbeing. I’ve been sought out to work on multiple specialist roles during my career which has led to developing core management skills in project management, change management, improving processes and overseeing day-to-day operations including finance and teams. Using Prince 2 methodology, projects have ranged from regional to large scale national projects including working at the Home Office. Having started my career in front-line policing, I’ve remained operational, working on serious and major crime as well as making strategic decisions and authorising the use of surveillance, custody extensions and protection orders. Committed to equality and diversity, I was elected as Chair of the British Association of Women in Policing Network in West Yorkshire in 2016 and within 2 years had successfully extended this network to support more women and address the issues affecting women in policing. Passionate about developing confidence and capability in others, I have coached and mentored many colleagues during my career and set up a coaching and mentoring course for staff from a protected characteristic to help develop confidence and resilience. Management experience is backed up with Fellowship with the Chartered Management Institute, attainment of level 7 certificate in Strategic Management & Leadership and an MBA. In 2020, I completed Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring. To connect – just get in touch!
