About Sana Ali
I’m a cognitive neuroscience PhD candidate at UCSD interested in better understanding the relationship between the brain, the body, and mental health. Specifically, I study the interplay of functional brain networks to neuropsychiatric/neurological disorders and transdiagnostic psychopathology (i.e, emotion regulation). My dissertation focuses on developing translational biomarkers using neuroimaging and biosignal metrics (i.e, heart rate, heart rate variability) for clinical populations. Furthermore, I’m passionate about diversifying STEM opportunities for historically excluded and marginalized groups in neuroscience. I hope to contribute to the open science research culture and foster collaborations through this initiative at every point in my career.
