ABOUT SALIM ARSLAN

Salim Arslan is a senior scientist at Panakeia AI, where he leads the machine learning research team. He is collaborating with researchers, engineers, molecular biologists, and pathologists on a mission to accelerate cancer diagnosis and precision medicine through artificial intelligence. After completing his post-doctoral research, he was appointed as an honorary research fellow in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. Previous to Panakeia, he contributed to the development of the world\'s first software to diagnose deep vein thrombosis. Before pursuing an industrial career, he was a research associate in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London and a member of the Biomedical Image Analysis Group. He obtained his PhD in Medical Image Analysis in October 2017 from the same department under the supervision of Prof Daniel Rueckert. He was fully funded by the EPSRC International Scholarship during his PhD studies. Upon completing his doctorate, he was awarded the EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship for post-doc research. In his early academic career, he was a research assistant in the Computer Engineering Department at Bilkent University, from where he received his MSc degree. He has been doing research in the field of biomedical image computing and medical computer vision for more than a decade with a focus on designing and implementing automated systems using machine learning. His research interests include but are not limited to, deep learning applied for image classification and object segmentation, non-linear feature reduction, unsupervised learning, data clustering, computational neuroscience, and network analysis. He is eager to consider new opportunities that align well with his interests, skills and expertise. He has the right to work in the UK and EU with no restrictions.
