ABOUT KAREN SALAZAR

I am a Christopher Newport University (CNU) alum with a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience. I grew up bilingual (English and Spanish) with over 10 years of experience in mentoring children with autism spectrum disorder. I have dedicated all four years of my time at CNU to the undergraduate facial processing lab in the psychology department with a focus on emotion recognition. I have experience in implementing ABA behavioral programs in an early education center for children with autism. I am currently a research assistant in a center that focuses on providing services for individuals who are diagnosed with autism through evidence-based practices on the foundation of Applied behavior analysis (ABA). My future will consist of pursuing higher education to eventually reach a Ph.D. in neurolinguistics. I am continuing my work with Neurodiversity and research.
