About Saksham Kumar

I am an engineer working at Eaton in Pune, India. I generally work to solve engineering problems by utilising data science. I have been recently working in the area of generative design using machine learning (ML), and utilising data science for diagnosing faults in machines (or their components). In generative design, I make use of ML to get a new design of existing product or device with an aim to increase its performance. I am knowledgeable in Python and its packages (NumPy, Pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn etc.) and have good coding skills. I am also skilled in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch. I have completed my M.Tech (Master of Technology) in mechanical systems design (mechanical engineering) from IIT Kharagpur in 2022. Before that, I completed my B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) in mechanical engineering from IIT Patna in 2020. Throughout the course of my career, I have been involved in various projects related to academia as well as research. During my B.Tech, I underwent vocational training at Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Barauni Refinery and this helped me understand the different processes and operations taking place in the industry. I interned at NBC Bearings, Jaipur in the summer after my 3rd year of B.Tech and by getting involved in the project there, I learned many things including the skills to apply the learned principles in the industry. In my free time, I like playing chess and reading books on diverse topics. I am a music lover who can play musical instruments like Harmonium and Tabla. I also enjoy travelling to new places. At the end of the day, I aspire to be the happiest, most successful and the best version of myself.
