ABOUT SAJEEV SHELLVACUMAR

A Specializing doctor in Cardiology (Board certification in cardiology - Post MD) with the aim to help patients overcome their Cardiology and related medical problems. I have experience in both general and interventional cardiology for last 4 years. My career objective is to use my skills to provide quality care at a local, regional or global level as a specialist doctor in cardiology. My interests include general and Interventional cardiology, Cardiac Imaging, Heart failure, Acute Cardiac Care, Cardiac Resuscitation, Cardiac rehabilitation and Non Communicable disease management. I have completed my local training in cardiology in National Hospital of Sri Lanka for 3 years and currently working as a specialty registrar in William Harvey Hospital in UK for my overseas training. Firstly, my interventional skills expand over performing coronary angiograms; percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) for STEMIs (Primary PCIs), high risk NSTEMI, chronic coronary syndromes, chronic total occlusions (CTO), left main artery lesions and bifurcation lesions; adult Structural heart diseases (ASD, PFO and PDA), percutaneous trans septal mitral commissurotomy (PTMC) and temporary and permanent (single and dual chamber) pacemaker insertion. I also took part and had hands on skill in LA appendage Device closure in the first ever workshop held in National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, Sri Lanka in November 2019. I too experienced in performing 2D Echocardiograms and transoesophageal echocardiograms. Secondly, my knowledge on general cardiology with regard to management of cardiac conditions is kept up to date based on latest European Society of Cardiology (ESC), American College of Cardiology (ACC) guidelines and latest peer viewed research articles. Thirdly, my experience in presentations is expanding in many international and national forums with many complex interventional cases and abstracts (eg EUROPCR 2023/Paris, ESC Asia 2022/Singapore, AICT AsiaPCR 2022/Singapore, EUROPCR 2022/Paris and Annual conference of Sri Lanka college of cardiology 2020/2021/2022 in Colombo). I also conduct audit and research in Cardiology. I have published few case reports in Journal of Sri Lanka College of Cardiology. Moreover, I m a PCR Companion in the PCR, Professional Member in the ESC, Member in RCP London and Life member in Sri Lanka College of Cardiology. Finally, I m a person with very good interpersonal skills which can be utilized in teamwork and also capable to leading a team leader role.
