My responsibilities include teaching B.Tech and M.Tech. students theoretical and practical aspects of Microbiology, and theoretical aspects of Food biotechnology, Cell and Molecular Biology. My research interest include mitigating drug resistant bacteria using novel efflux pump inhibitors. Use of plant based compounds and nanomaterials to mitigate clinically relevant biofilms. I am part of the team that was awarded DST- FIST grant in 2013; successfully completed SERB project on efflux pump inhibitors targeting NorA pump of S.aureus. our team has successfully developed colistin, curcumin and Salicylate to aid in colistin binding to MDR E.coli and to prevent its efflux using curcumin which works very well in zebrafish infection model. Successfully guided two research scholars towards PhD; published 25 peer reviewed international SCI indexed publication from SASTRA.
