Early member of the core Amazon Linux development team, responsible for designing and implementing Secure Boot, User Space OS, and Deterministic Updates, while also managing build pipelines, cloud infrastructure and monitoring- Led a team of 4 engineers in the design, development and deployment of a Multi-VPC package automation application, which involved cross-VPC and cross-account connectivity between data and processing clusters using PrivateLink- Achieved an 80% reduction in effort and enabled seamless automated upgrades for over packages across multiple Amazon Linux versions by leveraging AWS services like Step Functions, Kafka, Lambda, ECS, KMS, API Gateway, Dynamodb, S3, etc- Architected and implemented the Amazon Linux build system (Koji), streamlining package management with support for over builds per month. This system is utilized by millions of EC2, EKS, Lambda instances and various other AWS services- Designed and developed networking management throughout the instance lifecycle, with open-sourced ec2-net-utils, handling policy routing, secondary IPs, delegated prefix routing. Widely adopted by Fedora, Red Hat, Debian for EC2- Engineered and implemented an Arbitrary Source Importer service leveraging Kinesis Streams, Lambda, ECS, etc. with Debian USCAN for monitoring and uploading verified BLOBs using GNUPG. This service is now integral to all Amazon services- Proposed and implemented Early Machine Image Build Process for proactive error detection, ensuring robust AMI builds- Maintained and supported Linux kernel/OS packages for Amazon Linux distributions, including backporting features, bug fixes, security updates, embargo releases, collaborating with upstream open source developers and Linux community- Managed and resolved high-impact operational incidents affecting hundreds of AWS customers during on-call rotations for the Amazon Linux team. Collaborated with product managers to define project goals/scope and timelines.
