ABOUT SAIFUL HOQUE
I am a postdoctoral research fellow with over eight years of experience in textile materials engineering, product development, and testing, currently based at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto. I lead all e-textile research initiatives in our lab, with a focus on developing wearable solutions for healthcare applications, including a flagship project on monitoring and treating sleep apnea.Key highlights of my experience include:• Successfully secured over in competitive research funding through strategic grant writing, including a prestigious cross-border Collaboration Grant.• Strong expertise in project management and leadership, overseeing multiple interdisciplinary smart textile projects from concept to validation.• Proven track record of mentoring emerging researchers, having supervised six students during my PhD and continuing to mentor graduate students in my current role.• Extensive experience in advanced materials characterization techniques including SEM, FESEM, HiM, TEM, EDX, XPS, FTIR, XRD, and mechanical testing methods.• Deep knowledge of fiber and polymeric materials, scalable production processes, and textile integration techniques for functional and wearable systems.• Proficient in data analysis and scientific software such as SPSS, OriginPro, Aztec, Diffrac.Eva, and CasaXPS, supporting robust, reproducible research outcomes.
