ABOUT SAIBAL RAY
I am the James McGill Professor of Supply Chain Management at McGill University. My research interest can broadly be categorized as supply chain management. I am specifically interested in studying supply chain risk management, retail operations management, and supply chain sustainability issues. My research is supported by significant grants from provincial and federal governments in Canada. One interesting aspect of my research is that most of it are at the interface of operations and marketing (e.g, pricing). I am also a member of the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists and have been awarded multiple teaching awards from the Quebec Government and McGill University. I am also very much involved in academic leadership with Vice Dean (Faculty and Academic Affairs) being my new role. In this role, I am in charge of managing all academic affairs, including hiring, promotion, strategic planning, budgeting and overall academic lifecycle. I am especially adept at developing unique teaching programs and public-private research partnerships. Some of this expertise is evident in the Bensadoun School of Retail Management at McGill University of which I am presently the Founding Academic Director. In that capacity, I led the development of all aspects of the School, including its academic curricula and interdisciplinary partnerships. The goal of the School is to become the world’s premier institution dedicated to the future of retail. Before my present responsibility, I have been also involved in a number of novel teaching initiatives and research partnerships.
