About Sai Sidharth D
I would describe myself as an enthusiastic and spirited individual with interests broadly at the intersection of AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Computer Vision. I currently work at Toyota Motor North America as Automated Driving Software Engineer. Previously, I worked as an Infotainment Software Development Engineer at General Motors. Prior to that, I worked as a Computer Vision Engineer at a startup called DigitalFish in the Bay Area. My passion for AI and ML took root and developed as I took courses in ML and Deep Learning during my Master\'s at U of Washington. In my graduate studies, I was involved in coursework and projects in AI, Machine Learning, Signal Processing, Mobile Robotics and GPU Computing. I also got a bunch of certifications in AI and Deep Learning which helped me a lot along the way.I am proficient at various programming languages and frameworks such as C++, Python, Matlab, Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, Amazon AWS EC2, Amazon AWS S3, OpenCL and ROS.In my under-graduation, I completed coursework and projects in Robotics, Signal Processing and Communication systems. Various projects in Robotics and Signal Processing that I worked on during my under-graduation are delineated on my profile. In my free time, I enjoy watching comedies and thrillers on OTT, and I also enjoy watching cricket.
Experience
Automated Driving Software Engineer
Jul 2022 — Present · Ann Arbor, MI, US
Worked on a project called hitchless-trailer PoC (a car following another car autonomously).* Worked on developing software (Toyota proprietary) to calculate CAN Cyber-Security Encryption of messages for 8 byte - 32 byte length messages.* Worked on implementation of software (Python) for calculation of AutoSar E2E Profile 5 used for Device Authentication between CAN buses.* Developed a feature to sound a warning chime and a cluster warning signal simultaneously when the steering wheel angle exceeds a certain limits in a direction. This code works only when the vehicle is put into a certain gear. This warning acts differently in different ranges of steering angles.* Also developed code to apply torque in the opposite direction of the motion of the steering wheel when the steering angle exceeds certain limits in either direction. This was only able to be felt by trained drivers as it was very subtle when compared to the torque applied by the driver. This code works only when the vehicle is put into a certain gear.* Refactoring CAN-ROS encoding and decoding infrastructure. Wrote code to read CAN bus data from multiple buses into multiple ROS topics. Also worked on other miscellaneous software improvements for the project.* Extracted and consolidated necessary signals from 20TM data from multiple parquet files into a single data frame for further use by algorithm.* Wrote a python script to ping all ECUs on the vehicle and determine if they support CCP, and read data from them in realtime (CCP Polling).* Designed a flutter app to send control signals from Flutter to ROS and video feed from ROS to Flutter over web socket client with path overlay for vehicle’s motion.* Extracted and consolidated necessary fields from 20TM data from multiple parquet files (100s) into a single dataframe for LaneID project in pandas.* Analyzed percentage of road accidents that occur due to overtaking manuevers yearly on roads and causes.
