ABOUT SAI S. NUDURUPATI

I am a solutioneer*, numerical modeler, and data scientist. I aim to leverage data to address challenges in building ecosystem resilience to climate change and mitigating the effects of extreme events such as floods, wildfires, and droughts.I am currently working as a Data Scientist/Water Resources Modeler at Jacobs. I develop and apply cutting-edge tools to support hydraulic, hydrologic, and hydrodynamic analyses for local, state, and federal agencies. I previously worked as a Water Resources Engineer at Resource Management Associates (RMA). At RMA, I supported 2D and 3D hydrodynamic modeling of riverine, estuarine, and coastal ecosystems to study marine habitat health and flow dynamics in the Sacramento—San Joaquin River Delta, central California. I completed my Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington - Seattle in August 2020. During my Ph.D, I developed open-source numerical models in Python to investigate the impacts of climate change and disturbances (e.g, wildfires) on long-term semiarid ecosystem dynamics. I am a developer of Landlab, a Python package for earth surface modeling. I hold a Masters of Science in Engineering Mechanics, a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.I am the founding organizer of the Scientific Computing Meetup (parent meetup: Seattle\'s Puget Sound Programming in Python), where I assisted in organizing monthly meetups.Solutioneer (Noun): Someone that transforms challenges into opportunities to make a smarter, more connected and sustainable world.
