About Sai Ashish Somayajula

I am a Senior Applied Scientist at Oracle, working with a very talented team on optimizing frontier models for enterprise applications at scale.My PhD thesis focused on optimizing large language models (LLMs) for specialized domains such as healthcare and biology. Specifically, I developed methods for synthetic data generation using a meta-learning based feedback mechanism, continual learning techniques to adapt models to evolving data, and security approaches through watermarking. I also led a research team that developed a foundation model for predicting missing gene coordinates, improving the three-dimensional structural accuracy of DNA by analyzing sequence data and folding patterns. My long-term vision is to advance the use of these models in specialized domains and ultimately apply them to scientific discoveries such as vaccine development.Beyond research, I am passionate about applying my skills in industry to create impactful, scalable products. Outside of work, I enjoy watching thriller movies, debating topics such as politics, and exploring new cultures. Having traveled to more than nine countries, I aspire to visit every country in the world.
