About Sojourner Ahebee
Hi there! I am a Philadelphia-based multimedia journalist, published writer, and public educator. For close to five years, I have worked in national newsrooms developing a combination of editing, public programing, strategic communications, and project management experience. During my tenure as a news podcast producer, I successfully managed the workflow of dynamic teams, provided key editorial support, traveled across the country to lead and coordinate long-term reporting projects, and developed marketing materials for my shows to reach large audiences. I have experience executing complex creative projects from start to launch, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to collaborate with communities and stakeholders across a number of backgrounds and industries. As a longtime journalist and former Philadelphia public school teacher, I am looking to transition to a community-facing position that allows me to expand on my passions for the arts, culture, and education. I am currently open to roles in communications, public programing, the arts, and project management, ideally with a mission driven organization. A graduate of Stanford University, I have produced print and audio stories for MSNBC, The Atlantic, NPR, Poynter, WHYY, WBUR, WITF, Roxane Gay and Tressie McMillan Cottom’s podcast Hear to Slay, Rewire,The Philadelphia Tribune and elsewhere. I am a 2024 Watering Hole Retreat Fellow, a MacDowell Colony Fellowship recipient in creative writing, an AIR Media New Voices Scholar, a Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting fellow, and an International Women\'s Media Foundation (IWMF) Gwen Ifill Fellow.
