ABOUT SAHAR KAUSAR

Sahar is currently a Technical Animator (Character Technical Director) at Walt Disney Animation Studios where she provides both her artistic and technical talent to support the technical animation department. Her projects have recently included Encanto, Baymax!(Disney+), Zootopia+(Disney+), Reflect (Short Circuit, Disney+), Strange World, Short Circuit (Unannounced), Legacy Parks, and WISH. Sahar was previously a Walt Disney Imagineer where she worked as a figure programming engineer and in attractions installation to bring the animatronics to life! Her most notable projects included Tokyo Disneyland: Enchanted Tale of Beauty & the Beast, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Marvel Avenger’s Campus, Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia, and more! Sahar has a deep passion for merging and leveraging both her art and engineering background to build immersive experiences. She recently graduated with her masters from Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on technical art and computer graphics. She also holds a dual computer science engineering and digital arts degree with double art minors in Studio Arts and Fine Arts from the University of Florida. Prior to joining the animation department at Walt Disney Imagineering, Sahar had the opportunity to have a myriad of enriching experiences in her graduate career. She was previously a production design and creative development intern for Imagineering on the Play Disney Parks team where she helped with the launch of the Play Disney Parks app by contributing to physical interactive installations in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts. She also served as a graduate teaching assistant at Carnegie Mellon for the Building Virtual Worlds course where she mentored students to create immersive virtual and mixed reality projects. In her undergraduate career, Sahar previously interned at Apple Corporate, Immersed Games, and the University of Florida’s CISE GatorTech Smart Lab. Sahar is currently pursuing a career as a technical artist and director. She is passionate about combining her love of technology, art, and storytelling to promote the social good and give back to others. Ultimately, she hopes to use technology as her medium to share her stories and creativity to invoke a positive change in the world.
