ABOUT SAHAR J.
Sahar is a fourth-year honors student at the University of Georgia double majoring in International Affairs and Religion. She is also pursuing a minor in International Human Rights and Security. She spent her summer in Washington, D.C. supporting the Homeland Security mission area at Noblis. Sahar\'s professional interests include countering violent extremism, information security, South and Southwestern Asian affairs, supply chain, export controls, and WMD nonproliferation. In her current role as a lead Research Associate with British Standards Intellect (BSI), she utilizes open-source intelligence skills to report on supply chain risks and compliance in South America. Sahar was awarded the Sam Nunn Security Leadership Scholarship for her grant-writing proposal to develop a youth nuclear education program as part of the Center for International Trade and Security\'s 20••••23 Security Leadership Program. With CITS, she also conducted a faculty-mentored empirical research study that examined the relationship between a state\'s level of media freedom and its vulnerability to foreign influence campaigns. In 2022, she was awarded a Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her internship work with the National War College, which allowed her to explore and deepen her commitment to a career in national security.
