ABOUT SAHANGI DASSANAYAKE
Passionate about pushing the boundaries of space exploration and sustainable design on Earth! My doctoral study focused on developing novel simulation techniques for the autonomous assembly of large, high-precision structures in space. With expertise in structural dynamics, design optimization, and multi-scale modeling, I’m driven to create resilient, robust solutions for both next-generation space systems and innovative terrestrial infrastructure.Beyond my technical work, I actively contribute to the professional community as the Web and Communications Officer and a Technical Activities Planner for the AIAA San Gabriel Valley Section, and I’ve also served on the Steering Committee for Womxn in Engineering and Applied Sciences at Caltech. As a former member of Caltech’s Graduate Student Council, I helped shape initiatives to support the academic and social experiences of my peers. Outside of engineering, I love singing, theatre arts, dancing, and exploring the outdoors! Let’s connect and explore the final frontier together!
