LUCHA aims to recruit, retain, and empower Latine students at Minneapolis College. As Program Coordinator, my responsibilities can be simplified into the following areas:1) Admissions and Advising• Collaborate with admissions team to provide campus tours and relevant information in Spanish to high school students• Assist prospective students with college applications, major exploration, and campus resources through individual appointments offered in Spanish and English• Offer individual advising appointments to currently-enrolled Spanish-speaking and immigrant students to support in their academic planning, MN Dream Act applications, and referrals to external support services• Assist in determining English language proficiency for course level placement for non-native English speakers• Provide Spanish interpretation/translation support to various departments across campus for inclusive information sharing and student meetings2) Programming• Collaborate with internal and external Minneapolis College partners to create educational programmatic opportunities that meet Student Learning Outcomes as established by the Equity and Inclusion Division• Negotiate price range with potential vendors, start and complete contractual agreements, and accommodate vendor needs to have services rendered• Execute and delegate logistical tasks for event coordination such as room reservations, catering orders, and marketing materials while following institutional marketing guidelines• Maintain program budgets, expenditures, and contract documents for annual program evaluations3) Scholarship Program Management• Build, experiment, and pivot the program to meet the varying and changing needs and goals of students• Provide an interventionist advising approach to approximately 30 students every academic year• Facilitate a cohort of new students every fall semester through a First-year Experience course• Oversee budget allocation and ensure compliance with funding guidelines
