As a Research Assistant at the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, Northwestern University, I contribute to the development of an indwelling sodium sensor integrated with venous and arterial catheters for continuous blood sodium monitoring in critical care settings. My work focuses on designing and fabricating coaxial nitinol electrode structures and improving sensor stability through conductive polymer and metal coatings. To optimize performance, I apply a range of electrochemical analysis techniques—including chronoamperometry (CA), cyclic voltammetry (CV), open circuit potentiometry (OCP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)—to study film morphology, interface quality, and electrode stability across varying sodium concentrations. Through this role, I have strengthened my expertise in biomedical sensor design, fabrication methods, and electrochemical testing, while advancing a platform aimed at reliable, real-time monitoring of physiological sodium levels.
