About Sadaf Raoufi
I am a Ph.D. student in Bioinformatics at North Carolina State University working at the intersection of computational biology, machine learning, and metagenomics. My research focuses on developing AI-driven methods to detect overlooked viral and mobile genetic elements across the tree of life, combining comparative genomics, sequence analysis, and scalable Python-based ML pipelines.I also worked as a Research Assistant at the Wheeler Lab during my master’s program at the University of Arizona for three years, where I applied my expertise in Bioinformatics, Genomic Analysis, and Machine Learning to develop innovative methods for predicting health outcomes from genome sequences and supplemental medical records. My passion is to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, and engineers to design, implement, and evaluate novel algorithms and models that can improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various diseases and disorders.
