As a Battery Algorithms Engineer, I get to work on different model-based estimators within the Battery Management System (BMS) so our customers can have more confidence in the numbers they see while enjoying their Lucid vehicleMy typical day at Lucid revolves around these tasks - Model-based SW developmentI lead the charging time estimation feature in BMS, which predicts the time to target once a user plugs in their car to a charger (AC or DC). I am also in charge of the battery energy estimator which predicts battery energy and classifies it into usable energy and unavailable energy. During this process I also handle any field issues or bugs raised by the downstream validation teams.Simulation modelsI support the team with building simulation framework for different kinds of analysis whether it be understanding the impact of proposed SW change or to predict SW performance over new HW with existing SW architecture.Data AnalyticsA part of my role involves collaborating with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to comprehend the incoming data pools from customer and testing fleets and channel those learnings into building the next-generation algorithms.Extreme conditions verificationI am in charge of planning test cases and trips to verify SW performance during extreme external conditions including hot weather, cold weather, unexpected driving behaviors, and drive-to-zero conditions. This task involves understanding SW limitations, collaborating with vehicle teams for test case execution, and data analysis of executed tests. I also work with other ECUs (like thermal controls) to understand their controls and suggest improvements to push battery performance further.Being in Lucid during the company\'s growth phase was a great experience and I step in to cover different roles whenever there is a deficit and cover tasks from test planning and verification to field issues debugging.
