My role as Process Engineering Scientist involves development and scale up of processes for new drug molecules. It requires me to understand the chemistry and analytical challenges in depth and evaluate the engineering challenge, facility required and Process Economy in detail. It also requires in depth understanding and evaluation of unit operations involved in the process, safety risk assessment, quality by design fundamentals application and recycle and reuse. The process for manufacturing has to be validated in a GMP facility to meet the desired quality and regulatory requirements. Then all the assistance is provided to enable successful filing and commercial launch of the product in the market.In addition to this, in case any deficiency response or troubleshooting is required or any new facility has to be created and commissioned, assistance is provided.
