As employment counsel at Gilead, I independently manage outside counsel and oversee litigation against the Company in the form of agency claims, arbitrations, and formal complaints. I partner with Employee Relations and Human Resources to formulate, develop, and revise company-wide policies to ensure legal compliance and cultural consistency, and advise Human Resources and business units regarding employee performance management, structural reorganizations, and complex personnel matters. Some of my areas of specialty include interfacing with accommodations and leave specialists to advise on reasonable accommodation and leave of absence requests and counseling Talent Acquisition and management regarding recruiting and hiring practices, including background check issues, formulation of offer letters, and restrictive covenant reviews.I work proactively to devise and execute employment law-related initiatives and projects to increase efficiencies and mitigate risks, including a focus on advising for compliance on company-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.I am passionate about Gilead\'s core value of Inclusion, and was actively involved with many company Employee Resource Groups. In 2019, I served as Co-chair of the San Francisco Pride pillar of the LGBTQ+Alliance ERG, organizing a contingency of over 1200 Gilead employees in the San Francisco Pride Parade.
