ABOUT SABRINA ESBITT

I am a licensed psychologist focusing on clinical health psychology and geropsychology, and the LGBTQ+ Veteran Care Coordinator the Brooklyn campus of the New York Harbor VA. Prior to joining the Brooklyn VA, I was Senior Psychosocial Faculty with the Behavioral Science Unit of the Department of Family and Social Medicine (DFSM) at Montefiore Medical Center. In this role, I taught supervised, consulted and mentored within the Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Residency Program, and also taught, consulted, and carried administrative and program development roles within the Family Medicine Residency Program and our Predoctoral Externship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Primary Care Clinical Health Psychology.I am a graduate of the Clinical Psychology, Ph.D. program (Health emphasis) at Yeshiva University, which is located in the Bronx, NY. I completed my Certificate in Public Health at the Center for Public Health Studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I completed my Predoctoral Psychology Internship at the Manhattan Campus of the New York Harbor VA Healthcare System in New York City, where I provided psychotherapy and assessment to NYC veterans, and continued at the Manhattan VA for Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology with a focus on Geropsychology and Interprofessional Training. I have worked in oncology, rehabilitation medicine and traumatic brain injury, psychiatric inpatient, partial-hospitalization, community outpatient, primary care, and family medicine settings, reflecting my commitment to a career serving diverse communities in integrated care settings. My research focuses on the impact of chronic illness management on both the individual and their family. I was the New York State Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the APASI, a member of the New York State Psychological Association\'s Grassroots Legislative Subcommittee and the Integrated Care Task Force, Past President of our Early Career Psychology Division, and Past-Chair of the APAGS Advocacy Coordinating Team and the New York State Psychological Association of Graduate Students. I was also on the Board of the Early Career Division of the Society for Health Psychology.
