ABOUT SABRINA EMMA ADDOTEY
Hello! Welcome to my page! Being a registered respiratory therapist is important to me because of my passion to impact patient care and desire for leadership within this profession. My lifelong dream was to become a healthcare professional however during the pandemic, the work of respiratory therapists I observed on the news inspired me to transition from finances over to healthcare. Within the Canadian healthcare system, the diverse representation of individuals from Caribbean and African descent is underrepresented as healthcare professionals. As cultural differences and important for understanding patient health and history, advocacy for patient is sometimes overlooked. The endless opportunities asides from bedside patient care is also intriguing as there are several different roles available for respiratory therapists for perspective. Upon further research into Respiratory Therapy, the idea of being part of an inter-professional health team where I am the cardio-pulmonary expert excites me. Although Respiratory Therapists are established professionals, advocacy is vital for better patient care surrounding cardio-pulmonary health. There is still room for growth within this profession as there are still several opportunities for research, promotion of healthcare profession and education needed to improve the profession. If you’re interested in grabbing a coffee, or see how I can be an asset to your company, kindly send me a message through LinkedIn or email!
