About Sabeen Virani Dhanani
Sabeen Dhanani is a seasoned leader in digital development, with over 15 years of experience in shaping technology policy, building cross-sector partnerships, and driving digital transformation in emerging markets. She is the former Deputy Director in the Office of Digital Technology at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The Office was home to over 70 technical experts covering a wide array of topics including emerging technologies, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity. In her role Sabeen provided strategic direction and supports the overall management of the Office\'s activities to align with the USAID Digital Policy and US government priorities including global initiatives to expand connectivity, close the digital gender divide, and support inclusive digital ecosystems. Additionally, Sabeen is a thought leader and represented the U.S. government in multilateral forums including the UN and the G20, helping to shape international digital policy and foster alignment across stakeholders.Prior to joining USAID, Sabeen was a consultant at the World Bank focused on innovation and competitiveness and a Senior Strategy Consultant with the Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte), based in Dubai, where she advised government and private sector clients across the Middle East and Africa on policy, business strategy, organizational development, competitiveness, and innovation.Sabeen received her BA from Cornell University and her MA from Harvard University. She is a 2022 honoree on the CSIS-Diversity in National Security Network U.S. National Security Security and Foreign Affairs leadership list and a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations.
