About Sabeane Escobedo Palacios
Hello! I\'m Sabeane, a Mexican-Salvadorian student at the University of California, Berkeley, where I\'m double majoring in Aerospace Engineering and Bioengineering and a SEED Honors Program Scholar. I\'m passionate about bioastronautics (aerospace biomedical engineering) and human spaceflight, with a focus on how engineering design can support human health, performance, and habitability during long-duration space missions. I\'m especially interested in the intersection of aerospace engineering, bioscience, and bioengineering, and how interdisciplinary research can improve life in extreme environments. 🧬 During my undergraduate studies, I aim to pursue research that explores physiological and behavioral adaptations to spaceflight, spacecraft and habitat design, and the development of medical systems and countermeasures for astronaut protection. Following my undergrad, I aspire to pursue a PhD in bioastronautics. Beyond human spaceflight, I\'m also deeply motivated by how the design and governance of space systems shape environmental outcomes and communities on Earth. I\'m particularly interested in space environmental sustainability, including orbital debris mitigation, responsible space system design and governance, and the use of satellite data to support environmental monitoring and decision-making in underrepresented regions. Beyond research, I\'m passionate about STEM outreach and mentorship, especially programs that expand access to science and engineering opportunities for students from underserved backgrounds.
