Artificial intelligence for the characterization of nanomaterials. • Engineered a filter-based open-source image processing pipeline to automate the characterization of materials data• Developed and integrated pre-trained convolutional neural network and transformer-based models for nanomaterial characterization, improving image segmentation accuracy. Evaluated the transferability of the vision models to material datasets.• Trained both supervised and unsupervised machine learning models for classifying distinct nanomaterial morphologies using geometric modeling and Generalized Hough Transform.• Enhanced the efficiency of the characterization approach by 40x through improved image segmentation and feature classification techniques.• Mentored 5 research assistants (1 undergraduate and 4 graduate students) accumulating a combined total of 28 months of mentorship.
