As the EDI \'Head of Profession\' in the Communities, Equality & Third Sector team,I lead the council’s ambition to enable a truly inclusive, accessible, diverse, & anti-racist culture. Accountable for:· Leading the development, implementation & review of Brighton & Hove City Council’s Equality & Inclusion strategy towards the outcome of being a best practice civic leader in EDI & reducing inequality in the city.· Lead on the development, implementation and review of the Council’s EDI governance, policies, action plans and strategies. Advising members and Executive leaders on improving governance.· Developing and leading multi-agency strategic projects that advance the EDI agenda and achieve transformative change. · Leading the strategic direction of and advising the city’s mulit-agency Equality and Inclusion Partnership, elected members, senior management, Heads of Service and public sector partners to maximise opportunities for EDI and tackle shared EDI challenges.· Operational development and delivery of EDI business support to all services in the council to ensure services are accessible and inclusive for all residents and customers. · Line management, development, performance management and service improvement of the EDI team with the council’s Communities, Equality & Third Sector (CETS) Service. · Deputising for the Head of CETS in internal & external meetings locally, regionally & nationally.· Recommend & lead on projects & programmes delivery to ensure compliance. Provide oversight & leadership on community engagement & consultation.· Accountable for council’s EDI performance, reports & recommendations.· Work closely with external agencies to co-ordinate necessary strategies, policies, practices, system changes & new initiatives to deliver the city’s equality priorities and develop best practice.· Review & approve all Equality Impact Assessments for council services.
