PhD Researcher in Microbiology (Translational Bioinformatics & Drug Design) at the School of Pharmacy, Applied Sciences and Public Health, Robert Gordon University, UK. I specialise in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), pathogen genomics, and computational drug discovery, with a focus on developing genome-driven, translational approaches to therapeutic target identification.My research centres on building a reproducible bioinformatics pipeline for virulence-based target prioritisation in multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This integrates virulence profiling, resistance gene co-occurrence analysis, essentiality filtering, and structure-based drug design to enable the discovery of novel antivirulence strategies that reduce selective pressure for resistance.With over five years of experience in bioinformatics and data science, I have led and contributed to projects involving whole-genome sequencing, antimicrobial resistance profiling, and statistical analysis across viral and bacterial pathogens, including Gram-negative bacteria, HBV, and SARS-CoV-2. I work extensively with R, Python, Linux, and a wide range of bioinformatics tools and databases to develop reproducible analytical workflows.Alongside my research, I serve as a lecturer and programme coordinator at the National University Biomedical Research Institute (NUBRI), Sudan, where I have taught and mentored hundreds of students and contributed to postgraduate bioinformatics education and training. I have also supported regional and international training initiatives through programmes such as H3ABioNet.My broader goal is to contribute to innovative, responsible, and globally relevant solutions to antimicrobial resistance while advancing equitable access to bioinformatics research, training, and infrastructure in low-resource settings.
