U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Design Challenge | 2025-Contributed to a finalist proposal for the Henson Housing project, a net-negative, affordable multifamily retrofit in North Lawndale, Chicago-Reimagined a vacant school into WELL-compliant residential units, community incubators, and solar-lit public lounges—preserving embodied carbon through adaptive reuse-Integrated high-performance systems including Low-E glazing (Relux), optimized insulation (WUFI/THERM), and geothermal borefields (GLHEPro)-Co-developed renewable solutions with PVT panels, biosolar “purple” roofs, and greenscaping to mitigate urban heat island effects-Modeled building energy and structural performance using EcoStruxure BMS, and LCA cradle-to-grave analysis to ensure minimal lifecycle emissions-Achieved a projected net-negative EUI of 0.4291 kBTU/sq.ft with deeply affordable rents under 30% of AMI, targeting LEED Silver (potential Gold) certification
