Current company Centre For Research In Labour And Employment Laws Crlel
Higher Education · 19 employees · Founded 2025 · Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India
The Centre for Research in Labour and Employment Laws (CRLEL) at National Law University, Jodhpur is a dedicated research and advocacy platform committed to advancing legal scholarship, policy development, and institutional engagement in the field of labour and employment law. Established in response to the rapidly transforming Indian labour landscape shaped by globalization, technological disruption, gig and platform economies, and the introduction of the four Labour Codes, CRLEL serves as an intellectual hub addressing contemporary challenges in labour jurisprudence. The Centre envisions fostering a just and equitable labour ecosystem in India by promoting the rights and dignity of every worker. It aims to bridge critical gaps in law, policy, and practice through interdisciplinary research, fieldwork, capacity-building, legal training, and engagement with stakeholders across public and private sectors. CRLEL’s activities include conducting doctrinal and empirical research, developing data-driven policy recommendations, publishing peer-reviewed journals and working papers, organising conferences and workshops, and offering training to officials, PSUs, trade unions, and informal sector workers. The Centre also critically examines the implementation of labour codes, occupational safety frameworks, and emerging issues related to social security, migrant labour, and workplace equality. Located in Rajasthan, a state marked by rich traditional industries and emerging sectors, CRLEL benefits from direct access to diverse labour ecosystems for meaningful field research and policy experimentation. With a mission rooted in constitutional values, social justice, and academic excellence, CRLEL seeks to become a leading voice in shaping the future of labour and employment law in India.
