About Ritesh S
I am a third-year student at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, pursuing an Interdisciplinary Dual Degree — B.Tech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and M.Tech in Quantitative Finance (2023–2028). My interests lie at the intersection of mathematics, probability, statistics, algorithms, and financial markets, with a focus on building high-performance, scalable, and data-driven systems. I am particularly interested in translating mathematical intuition into production-ready software that performs reliably under real-world constraints. I actively develop expertise in algorithmic problem-solving and competitive programming, applying these skills to quantitative trading strategies, financial modeling, and risk analysis. My approach emphasizes efficient algorithms, clean abstractions, and performance-critical code. I am a member of the Quant Guild at IIT Madras and a former member of the Competitive Programming Guild, where I have strengthened my skills in statistical analysis, alpha generation, data structures, algorithms, optimization, and mathematical reasoning. In competitive programming, I hold a Specialist rating (1502) on Codeforces and a 3 rating (1712) on CodeChef, with multiple strong global finishes in open contests. I have also participated in quantitative trading competitions, securing 3rd place in the IMC Trading Simulation 2026 in IIT Madras, 36th place in the Optiver Trade-A-Thon 2026 among IIT Madras, IIT Delhi & Hyderabad, and reaching the finals of the Quant Trading Challenge at Tryst 2026, IIT Delhi. Currently, I am exploring alpha research through WorldQuant Brain as a Research Consultant, developing signals and evaluating them on various equity datasets. Beyond academics, I serve as Head of Finance at Shaastra (IIT Madras’s annual technical festival) and Social Secretary of Alakananda Hostel. These roles have strengthened my abilities in financial planning, analytical decision-making, stakeholder coordination, and execution under pressure. I am actively seeking opportunities in quantitative research and algorithmic trading, and welcome conversations around markets, algorithms, and technology-driven solutions.
