Robin Wessel is the Vice President of Product Management and Corporate Development for Kinematics, the worldwide leader in intelligent motion control systems that improve the value, lifespan, and safety of mission-critical systems. With over 25 years of strategic leadership and product management experience, Wessel has shaped the future of multiple companies, including Xerox and FLIR Systems. Robin’s ability to synthesize complex information, develop cohesive strategies, and foster cross-functional collaboration allows him to be a bridge between departments and ensure that all stakeholders are involved in product roadmap processes. Robin’s collaborative approach allows him to achieve strategic alignment, even in complex industries and ecosystems. As Vice President of Strategy for the Office Systems Business Group at Xerox, Robin pioneered a solution to boost revenue from post-sale toner purchases. Using cloud-based technology to automatically reorder toner for customers without requiring contracts. The ecosystem solution solved an industry-wide profitability issue and created a precedent that others have followed. As Vice President of Product Management and Market Strategy at FLIR Systems, Wessel introduced commercial technology innovation approaches to developing products for government and defense markets. As part of his New Product Introduction (NPI) process, he introduced portfolio planning, commercial innovation models, and minimum success requirements, which led to unified processes, scalability, and a more efficient product funnel. The approaches Robin championed allowed FLIR to build a portfolio of products that have resulted in multiple large US DOD contract awards. Robin has a BS in Industrial and Product Design from Western Michigan University.
