About Ryo Hanalei Zsun
AlohaZ! I’m Ryo Zsun [ree-oh sun], a local island boy from Hawai‘i with a big heart for people, culture, and service. For over 20 years, I’ve thrived in the Food, Beverage, and Retail world—building my career with brands known for legendary customer service and unforgettable company culture. After nearly a decade at Starbucks, I joined the Zappos Family in 2012, starting at Z’Cafe as a barista. The following year, I joined the Zappos Customer Loyalty Team—our call center—where I experienced firsthand the power of truly empowered customer service. It was a complete game-changer. In 2014, I became a Zappos Culture Guide, giving daily HQ tours to guests from around the world who came to feel our core values in action. That journey sparked a new one: in 2017, I stepped onto the keynote stage and began sharing the Zappos story globally—showing how great culture drives great service, told through my own personal experiences.
