ABOUT RYAN ARMSTRONG

I am an application security expert, mentor, and advocate. I manage a team of offensive security specialists (penetration testers) and teach information security at the post-graduate level. I have consulted for a wide range of projects and clientele and am always working to improve my own skills and process as well as those of the talented people I mentor. In 2016, I completed my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. My research interests included surgical simulation, image processing, computer vision, augmented reality, machine learning and computer-human interaction. While I\'ve left the academic world, my passion for science, education, and evidence-based policy/regulation drives my volunteer work both independently and in conjunction with various organizations to help promote scientific literacy, skeptical thinking, and sound policy. My activism has been featured in regional and national media outlets, including the CBC and The Globe and Mail.
